Using memorabilia in your decorating scheme is one of the easiest ways to beautify and warm up a room. For artful arrangements on a tabletop or shelf: include items that reflect your life, such as family photos, memorabilia from travels, or art created by children. Using frames of similar style and color will enhance the beauty of your efforts.
Place items in uneven numbers. Assemble small knickknacks in a basket, on a tray or on a piece of lace. Keep in mind though that less is more. Don’t over do it. Vary heights of objects. Include things of tall, medium and short heights for visual interest. Mix textures - metals, glass and soft materials. If your sofa is of a large size so should your coffee and end tables. A small coffee table next to a large sofa will become dwarfed, and visa versa. If your walls are of a dark tone let your sofa be in a lighter color, if they are the same colors they will fade into one another loosing the desired effect.
Comfort What makes a sofa comfortable? It is the depth of the seat, the height of the back, the curvature of the back, and the seat firmness. Ask yourself these questions. Do my feet touch the floor comfortably? Is my head being supported? Is the seat to hard, to soft? To be most comfortable you want you feet to easily touch the floor but have less than a fist width between the back of your knees and the seat of the sofa. If you and your significant other are very different in height and or weight you may want to consider a separate chair specifically for that person, so they too can be comfortable. To solve most of these problems try out a reclining sofa from Palliser or La-z-boy. This way you have a footrest, and the back can be tall enough to fit most people in the family. They can be in many fabrics, leathers, and styles. <Back
